Fundraising platform hacked

The BBC reports that UK universities are amongst the clients of Blackbaud affected by a hack.

In some cases, the stolen data included phone numbers, donation history and events attended.

Blackbaud provides university administration software, including for fundraising activities.

It is useful to remember there are two sides to outsourcing. One the one hand, it provides a quick way to enhance organisational capabilities, but no route to differentiation. On the other hand you join with others in collective failure when things go wrong.
